As such, I decided I'd make the character and background BEFORE I started playing. One of the problems I ran into is the surname. Now, because I read the Minotaur Wars recently, I remembered they used prefixes in their last name to denote their rank in the Empire's hierarchy. I can't, for the life of me, remember what was said about it or anything. I can't find anything about it either. I remember de-Droka and es-Hestos; for example Hotak de-Droka and Chot es-Hestos. To be honest, it might not even mean anything about the hierarchy but it said something that could be important to roleplay so I thought I'd ask.

Unfortunately, I haven't seen our LoK wiz in a while :/ If I ever come across such information I'll be happy to let you know.

You could always roll him, then request a surname change later, if you find out more information down the road?

After spending some time away from LoK, I've come to realize that LoK is a lot different from the Krynn described in the books. Not a huge issue, but it's one of the reasons why I'm going to look further into this; it's so that my roleplay will be more solid and realistic alongside the world of Krynn.

In the minotaur warriors, the former Emperor's name is Chot Kalin, the later Emperor's name being Hotak Droka. Throughout the whole book, both have a prefix; es-Kalin and de-Droka. It has something to do with their clan's and the Empire's society. When I take the time to re-read to find out I'll let everybody who cares know exactly what it meant. Anyways, what's so amazing about The Minotaur Wars is it talks about the Minotaur society. None of the other books that I've read were about how a race lived except for very little about the elves and dwarves. The minotaurs, however, have this very enriched society in which they abide by and live their lives for. The minotaur empire is pretty much cut off from the rest of the world and they don't interact with the outside world except with wars and alliances. They're actually a lot like the mages and their three towers (except trade alignment with prestige.) Each family (clan) is assigned a rank (tower) depending on their contributions to the Empire. The more prestigious clans have more sway on the Empire but in the end, it comes down to the Emperor. The minotaurs actually have a high leveled society that most people wouldn't perceive. They have a senate, they keep the Temple and Imperial matters separate, they have a huge and fearsome army, and they're world is completely different from the rest of Krynn. They have mines where their convicts/prisoners mine for ore; they are expert mariners and wage sea battles often; and they don't choose their Emperor, the champion of the Great Circus is the Emperor and anybody that challenges him and wins becomes the Emperor. The minotaur Empire is awesome and way more complex than I once thought they were. [ Edited Wed May 02 2012, 05:30PM ]
